President’s Corner: July 2016

A couple of weeks ago I was reminded by several people that my 30 year anniversary with Investors Title Company had come and gone. I had completely forgotten about it and was just going about my business, as usual, and did not give it much thought at the time.

We have a policy here at Investors of giving employees a gift card on their employment anniversary every year, the value of which is based on their years of service. As this policy does not extend to lowly CEO’s, I had no reminder and it completed slipped my mind as things sometimes do.

It was June 10, 1986. (That’s in the last century for you Millennials out there). I have to confess that when I started I knew essentially nothing about what a title agency actually did but I really wanted to learn and felt like it was a good opportunity when I accepted the job. (after only a 20 minute interview by the way) After my first day, I immediately knew I had made a good decision. Everybody I worked with and trained with was smart, energetic, enthusiastic, and wanted to do a great job for the customers. Of course, it was June and just like today, we were extremely busy. Nonetheless, everyone I dealt with was happy to help me and answer all of my annoying questions.

Today, while our business like everyone else’s has changed in many ways, I see the same qualities in the people around me just as I did 30 years ago and I am very satisfied by that. And they still answer all of my annoying questions! Finally, you should know that Investors has many employees that have been with the company more than 10 years which I think says something positive and makes a huge difference for our clients.

So, have a great month and thank you for your business. (I’ll save what I have written here so that in 10 years I can reuse it with only one small change) Talk to you next month.
